This is bottled for van Wees in Holland
and comes from a refill Sherry hogshead with the casknumber 900665. Only 298
bottles were made. Sweet grapes at first in the smell. Some earth and grass as
well. Don't get your nose too deep down in the glass though! After some minutes
in the glass some fresh fruits comes forward.
Raw power at first in the taste! It
still has these rough notes, but some sweetness joins in. Burned caramel. The
oak influence really shows in the finish. Quite elegant considering the age.
Not quite the classic influence you normally get from Sherry casks.
A fine dram and I love the power! With
that said, do not be afraid of giving it some water. It becomes much more
playful, it opens up for new flavors, and if I were to rate it with water, it
would probably get a point or two extra! I will give this 84/100
(20/21/22/21).
