Review #335 |
This whisky
is called “A couple of classic icons” and comes from a refill hogshead. Only
234 bottles were made. Salty marzipan in the smell and it doesn’t hide that it
is cask strength! Some vanilla as well and hints of caramel in the background.
Much more
is going on in the taste. Lot of spices, black pepper and salted nuts. The
finish is long, warm and very spicy. Some burned caramel and wood as well. Some
vanilla mixes with the wood in the end. Even though the finish is long, it is
still full of flavors.
This is not
a typical Jura. Hardly any peat and not the same saltiness as usual, but it is
one of the good Jura’s I’ve tried! The nose and taste/finish doesn’t quite fit
together, and that ruins the overall picture a bit. But only a bit! I will give
this 85/100 (20/22/22/21).
