Review #484 |
This is a “Japanese-market-only”
release from Kirin. It was released in 2016. Marzipan sweetness, almonds, honey
and hints of vanilla in the smell. It is very sweet.
The alcohol
has a greater impact in the taste. Burned caramel and oak. The 50 % shows and
shoves the sweetness in the background, but just at first, and in the finish
the sweetness is back. Still with the marzipan as the dominant factor!
This is
mostly just sweet, and the complexity is almost missing. A fine dram, potent at
50 %, and just nice and easy going. At least if you are used to cask strength
whiskies. I will give this 81/100 (21/20/21/19).
