Review #501 |
This is a
1984 vintage from Gordon & MacPhail’s “Connoisseurs Choice” series. Sweet,
citrusy and light peated in the smell. A bit too light all over to be honest,
thus not very complex…
More peat
comes forward alongside some honey and vanilla in the taste. Some almonds, or
more marzipan sweetness perhaps, in the finish. The low ABV kills it rather
fast though. The sweet peat is all you are left behind with.
A very fine
dram, but oh god how good would this have been at cask strength or even just at
46%. Who would taste this wonderful cask and think “Hey, lets water this all
the way down to the absolute minimum requirement!”?? I will give this 83/100
(20/22/21/20).
