Review #520 |
From Douglas Laing comes this single grain whisky from a refill hogshead with the
cask number DL11184. Only 341 bottles were made. Sweetness is coming through in
the smell, but it is not as sweet as old grain whiskies usually are. A bit floral as well.
A nice and mellow sweetness in the taste.
Fine and elegant oak influence with wood spices coming forward. The finish is
medium long, and now the sweetness starts to come forward. Vanilla and sugary
sweetness.
As I mentioned, not as sweet, and a little
different from the normal grain whiskies out there. But isn’t all from Loch
Lomond a little different? Goes great with Lemon Drizzle by the way. I will
give this 83/100 (20/21/21/21).
