Review #508 |
This is a
great young Islay Single Malt from Ian MacLeod. Un-chillfiltered and natural
colour! Fresh, clean Islay peat in the smell. Baked apples, hints of exotic
fruits and citrus. On top of it all, a layer of vanilla.
More heavy
and full-bodied in the taste. Very oily! The white fruits gets replaced with
grass and hay, but still with a little citrus present. In the finish, the peat
is left behind with the sweetness. A great combination! Peat smoke and ashes
mixed with honey and vanilla. It stays for quite a while with the oils covering
the inside of my mouth.
A very fine
young Islay malt, like it is supposed to be. Actually quite complex for a young
Islay whisky. It is very oily, which helps the finish in both length and taste.
I will give this 86/100 (21/21/22/22).
