Review #544 |
Released to
celebrate Springbank’s 175 anniversary. 12.000 bottles were made. Nice dried
fruits and light wood and tannins in the smell. Some lighter fruits and vanilla
as well in the end.
The oak and
tannins comes even more forward in the taste. The dried fruits is very present
as well. Dates, prunes and plums. The finish gets a bit sweeter. Fruity
sweetness with some honey. Still with the dried fruits!
The
alcohol, even though it is only 46 %, is very dominant. A bit too much perhaps.
Otherwise I am impressed with the amount of oak and dried fruit influence in a
12 year old whisky at only 46 %. I will give this 86/100 (21/21/22/22).
