Review #567 |
This is the fifth release of The Irishman
12 year old and it is matured in first fill Bourbon barrels. A maximum of 6000
bottles will be produced each year. Notes of dried fruits, nuts and dark
chocolate in the smell. In a light way. A little Bourbon vanilla in the end
with just a dash of honey.
Not as “light” in the taste. At all! Very
flavourful. Full of fruits like dried apricots, peaches and sweet raisins. The
finish is long and the fruity sweetness comes forward. Also the nuts get
noticeable here – almonds in particular. Some oak and just a hint of oak spices
is present throughout the taste and the finish.
Quite flavourful with a long finish
considering the low ABV. It is just wonderful what these Bourbon casks delivers. A
great introduction to Irish whiskey at a very affordable price. What’s not to
like? I will give this 85/100 (21/22/21/21).
