Tipperary 10 yo (bottled 2016), Knockmealdowns, 47%

Review #569
This is a single malt Irish whiskey and the name is in honour of the Knockmealdowns mountain range and made from ex-Bourbon casks. Only 1916 bottles were made! Very light on the nose with white fruits, vanilla and toffee sweetness.

Some oak and citrus comes forward in the taste. The 47% is showing (and that is in the good way) and some burned caramel and spices (black pepper) joins in as well. The citrusy notes stays all the way through the finish where some more sweet notes also are noticeable - honey and vanilla.

A very straight forward Irish single malt whiskey, but the 47% gives it a little extra. To be honest, I think that the Knockmealdowns mountain range must be a bit more stunning than this whiskey… I will give this 80/100 (19/21/20/20).
