Review #584 |
A single
cask selected by Tipperary, which is finished in red wine casks. Marzipan and
red berries in the smell. The oak is noticeable and some raisins and nuts comes forward.
Flavourful, but mild to the nose, considering that it is almost 60%!
Deep dark
berries in the taste. Blackcurrant and prunes. Vanilla and oak joins in, but just on the
side without interfering. The finish is just full of dried fruits with fruity
sweetness on the side. Oh, and it stays for quite a long time.
Is this
only 8 years old? And is this only a finish? This is a great dram from start to
finish. Normally I am not too fond of red wine maturation, but this brings out
the best elements of this type of maturation. I will give this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
