Review #579 |
This is one
of three 12 year old whiskies from West Cork, launched in 2016. This is
finished in Sherry casks. Oranges and Port soaked raisins in the smell. The dried fruit
sweetness is really great, without being overly sweet at all!
Very Irish
at first in the taste. Then the Sherry influence comes rushing in. Not quite
what I was expecting. Baked dessert apples and slightly citrusy in the
background. The dried fruits comes forward in the finish, and mixes with the
fruity sweetness.
Not a
classic Sherry whisky, but actually, it is exactly what you could expect when
you Sherry mature an Irish whiskey. The Sherry maturation gives it some extra
depth, and that is what I enjoy most about this. I will give this 81/100 (20/20/20/21).
