Review #600 |
This is
batch number 9 from the wonderful Cask Strength series. It is bottled February
2017. Peat and fresh cut grass in the smell. Crisp green apples. After a couple
of minutes in the glass, it is surprisingly gentle on the nose.
And here we
go. Peat and a great alcohol burn is the first that arrives in the taste. Again
the green apples. Some oak comes forward in the finish and the peat, some
medicinal notes and some salt stays for quite a while.
A great
young and fresh cask strength from Laphroaig. I miss a bit of complexity
(considering that it is a cask strength), but sometimes you just need a good
young Islay cask strength hard hitter, and then, this is a great choice! I will
give this 87/100 (21/23/22/21).
