Kavalan Concertmaster - Port Cask Finish, 40%

Review #627
This is firstly matured in American oak before the young whisky is finished in Port casks. It is very sweet in the smell. Red berries and a bit of oak. Very much like a light Tawny Port, but with an extra kick of alcohol. Some vanilla and honey in the end.

The taste is full of fruits. Dried fruits, red berries and some fresh white fruits as well. All mixed with a little oak. The finish gets very sweet. Fruity sweetness from the berries and sweet raisins, with a honey and sugary touch as well.

Just a good solid dram from start to finish, considering the low ABV. The Port cask finish is working, and you really get the Port characteristics. With that said, you need to like your drams very sweet, and it isn’t nearly as flavourful as other Kavalan expressions (this due to the low ABV). I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
