Review #617 |
This is the
second edition of the “Original Cask Strength”. It matured for 6 years in
quarter casks. Sweet peat and hay in the smell. Some white fruits and vanilla.
It is gentle on the nose considering the high ABV.
The alcohol
and peat works very well together in the taste. Sweet vanilla peat, oak and the
classic Kilchoman farm-like character. Some spices find its way through to the
palate in the finish. Pepper and mild oak spices. The warm felling and the peat
stays for a long time.
Kilchoman
really grows on me for every expression I try! This is no exception! Only 6
years old, but the quarter casks have done a great job in this short period of
time, yet the peat and farm-like character from the spirit is still like the
young feisty Kilchoman’s I love! I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
