Port Charlotte 10 yo (bottled 2012), First Edition, 46%

Review #648
This is the first edition from back when Jim McEwan ruled at the distillery. It is 40 PPM. A good amount of peat in the smell. Some meat, grass and hay with some notes of sweet marzipan underneath it all.

Peat and loads of grass and hay with just the right amount of alcohol in the taste. Fruity notes comes rushing in with a bit of sweetness on the side in the finish. Red berries and raisins. A little oak as well with hints of tannins.

The casks does a great job and the strength at 46% suits the whisky very well. So many things is going on, so take your time with it. In short – just good all the way through! I will give this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
