Review #479 |
This is a
single malt from an undisclosed distillery. It is from a single cask (Bourbon
Barrel) and only 78 bottles were made. Light peat with sweet pears in the smell. After some
minutes in the glass, the peat gets more deep. Some heathery notes and hints of
oak.
The taste
is hot and full of peat. Some earthy notes mixes in, with some vanilla on the
side. The finish is a bit short, and gets a bit watery. After a couple of sips,
it is as if the oils have covered your mouth and the flavours stays a little
longer. Peat, hay and vanilla sweetness.
If you like your Islay whiskies young and fresh,
this would be a fine choice. It is not very complex, but it is very
uncomplicated, with a fine balance. A very honest Islay dram. I will give this
83/100 (20/21/21/21).
