Review #517 |
This is the ”Emerald Flagon” (not that it
really matters…). This was first launched in 1953, and still today it is very
popular. Gentle oak, dried fruits and dried fruit sweetness in the smell. It has this
“old-age-calmness” to it and I don´t sense the alcohol at all.
Very smooth in the taste. The Sherry notes
are still there, but other fruits mixes in as well. The oak is quite noticeable
as well, in the good way, and carries beautifully on into the finish. Great
balance between the oak and the sweetness from the fruits.
Take a couple of sips before you start
judging this whisky! My palate had to get used to taste, and then it started to
fill my mouth. Very delicious! The smell suffers a bit from the low ABV, but
the taste and finish is still very flavourful. Imagine it at 46% or above! I
will rate this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
