Review #588 |
Blasda is a
lightly peated Ardbeg, released in 2008. It is only 8 ppm (for reference the 10
year old is 23 ppm). Sweet peat, dirt, fresh cut grass and a bit of fruitiness
(in the background) in the smell. Fresh white fruits that is.
A bit more peat
in the taste, and it mixes perfectly with some earthy notes. Vanilla sweetness
and coconut. It all calms down in the finish, but it is still a medium to long
finish. The sweetness comes more in focus and some toffee appears.
Not as peated as
many other Ardbegs, but still it has that Ardbeg character! Lovely stuff. The
mix of the sweetness and the earthy notes is really what I enjoyed most in
this. Why oh why is this only 40%? I could only imagine what it would be like
at a higher strength! I will give this 86/100 (22/21/22/21).
