Writers Tears, Copper Pot Irish Whiskey, 40%

Review #577
This is a mix of single malt and single pot still whiskey. It is very light with a lot of sweetness on the nose. Caramel, honey and vanilla. Some dry oak and a bit of apple pie as well.

The caramel is also very noticeable in the taste. Burned caramel. Actually quite flavourful considering the low ABV. Some white fruits. Especially apples, but not in the fresh light kind of way. More like candied apples. The finish isn’t super long, but I didn’t expect it to be. Some sugary notes, from the burned caramel and candied apples, stays for quite a while though.

A fine dram that could be a fine introduction to Irish whiskey. I miss some complexity though. It is very simple, but the classic Irish smoothness is there… I will give this 81/100 (20/21/20/20).
